Waiting Lounge 5

As I was waiting for my flight, I am observing people going to and fro in the predeparture area.  They have gone from somewhere and will be going to their respective destinations.  I don't know how far or where they have traveled.  I may not know their purpose of travel.  I may not know what struggle they have gone through from places to places.  I may not know the people they have been with during their travel.  I don't know the people they have encountered during their travel.  I don't know how long they have waited at the waiting lounge when their flights were delayed.  I may not know what kind of people they are.  Their flights, their baggage, their choice of destination.  Their life stories... All I see is them being busy coming and going.

A Record in Eternity

18 He replied, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. 19 I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you. 20 However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.”
Luke 10:18-20 (NIV)

Being saved more than anything else is worthy of celebration.

Rejoice!

I remind myself today that my name is written in heaven.  In the Book of Life. For eternity!

I can't sink in myself to what God calls eternity.  But I only have to believe that eternity is real.  That eternity with God is worth more than anything.  I was once a sinner and Jesus saved me.  He has given me life in eternity.

Thank You, Jesus!

The Promised Crown of Life

Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.
- James 1:12

Father God,

I praise You and worship You for Your mercy and faithfulness are new every morning! Thank You that I have a reward waiting for me -- eternal life! Lord, thank You for Your grace You are giving me to persevere under trial.  Lord, by Your grace I am able to stay faithful under pressure.  It's okay. This suffering is temporary.  There is an end to every suffering. I am looking forward to Your reward -- an everlasting reward: to be with You in eternity!

I give You all the glory and honor and praises that You alone deserve in Jesus' name. Amen!

Not Bound by Time

There is just a slice or two out of twenty-four hours I spend sitting in front of my desk, looking out the window, and then pondering. I just love doing it. Pondering and asking gazillion questions to myself and to God.

TIME as defined by dictionary.com is [1] the length of all existence, past, present, and future; [2] limited or particular period of time; [3] era.

A moment ago, thoughts came to me, "Why did God put me in this era? Why was I born in this time and not during 1800's or during Jesus' time? Why am I alive now? In this century?"  It's those questions I ask myself that only God could answer. And why should I even question God with those?  It is His prerogative. Well, a number of my questions (mostly out of curiosity or ignorance) are left unanswered. But what amazes me is that every question I have in mind points out to Him. It's not about me after all. It's about Him.

God is not bound by time.  To Him, time is nothing.  Before time began He already existed.  We cannot limit God with time. He knows the past, the present, and the future.  Even the psalmist said that a thousand years is like a day to God.

When Jesus died, He died once and for all.  His death had the lifesaving power during the era when He was here on earth, AND it has the same lifesaving power even in this generation. Why? Because God is not bound by time.

I also wonder, "How could God listen to millions of people praying to Him at a time?" For Him, it is possible for He is God. He is not bound by time, and  He exists beyond space and time. To God, a day is like a thousand years in His sight indeed. We move and live in accordance with time.  We are bound by a finite time. God is not.  And it is awesome to know that God works beyond time, and He concurrently works in us according to His timetable.

How does God's timetable look like?  The answer? We have a glimpse of it in the Bible.  His timetable is spread throughout His Word.

God never fails to give me a jaw-dropping expression on my face of His glory and majesty.  This is God -- Timeless. Not bound by anything.

Glory to You, God!
