Probably you might be asking what relevance does the above mentioned have on my blog post. It's a shampoo brand. Well.... uhm... nothing. No relevance at all. LOL!
I was wondering, though, how did the Procter & Gamble come up with a brand name, Rejoice for a shampoo? Were one of the P&G branding team members ever came across Philippians 4 and saw the word "Rejoice!" and decided to use that word for the brand? Were the Research & Development team rejoicing during the development process of its shampoo? Might it be because the Marketing team wanted to convey a message to the consumers that every time they use this product, they will rejoice because of the result of having a smooth, shiny, fragrant, beautiful hair?
Okay. Really. Enough of that. I'm going farther away from the topic. :-D
But yeah. Every time I see a Rejoice shampoo commercial, what comes into my mind is the bible passage from Philippians 4:4.
Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!
And I will be happier if every time I rejoice in the Lord, I will get to have a salon-smooth hair and then my friends would tell me, "Girl, haba ng hair!" (a compliment for having a long, beautiful hair, that is). And then, I'll hashtag #habanghair #ikawNaAngMalupit #magRejoiceKaNaGirl. Hihihi! :-)

Philippians 4: 4-9
4 Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! 5 Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. 6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
8 Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. 9 Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.
4 Rejoice in the Lord always.
- Always means all the time; in any event; on every occasion.
I will say it again: Rejoice!
- Emphasis on rejoice; Notice that Paul said it twice.
- REJOICE: a verb meaning to be glad; take delight.
- TO ALL... meaning to everybody; to each person; not impartial.
- Be gentle to believers, nonbelievers, friends, and even enemies.
- Means He is not distant, but He is within us, in our hearts dwelling in us.
- Could also mean that He is coming again soon. So be gentle to all. You wouldn't want to be caught on the spot by Jesus being mean to people, would you?
- DO NOT! We always or most of the time have the tendency to distress ourselves or become uneasy because of fear or danger. That is why, we Christians, are commanded to NOT allow ourselves to worry over matters of life. Rather, we are commanded to PRAY in everything about anything.
- Let us turn our worries into prayers.
- Worry less. Pray more.
- Transcend: a verb meaning to rise above or go beyond; overpass; to be above and independent of.
- Only God's peace can give us true peace. His peace goes beyond positive thinking, the absence of conflict, or good feelings. In fact, we can have peace in our hearts amidst conflict and chaos by knowing that God is in control.
- And why is it necessary for God's peace to guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus?
- Because our hearts and minds are vulnerable and susceptible to anxiety if we let them. And JESUS CHRIST is the only One who has the capacity to guard our hearts and minds against anxiety. It is His promise that He will guard us with His peace.
- We are instructed to program our minds with wholesome thoughts.
- Whatever we feed our minds with come out of our actions. So we better be careful.
- Keywords: put into practice. Yup! You heard it right! We should be doers of the word more than hearers of the word. God is pleased when we, the big O, obey.
- And as a result, God's peace will be with us.
