Trusting in the Lord means putting one's confidence and faith in god who is in control.  It means putting ones trust with all, that is, not partial, not conditional, but rather complete, everything, and impartial.  Why "with all your heart?"  Our hearts are a seat of life, the vital part and central to life.  Trusting God with all our hearts means trusting God with our whole lives.

Leaning on means putting your weight on something for support.  We have the tendency to lean on our own abilities, resources, talents, or intelligence.  We think we know most, if not all, things, and we think that we always have solutions to our problems.  But guess what?  Our own understanding is limited.  We have finite minds, and so it follows that we also have finite understanding.  It is not wise to rely or to lean on our own understanding for it will definitely fail us.  Rather, we should recognize that what we have (our abilities, knowledge, talents, etc.) come from Him, God Almighty.  For every success we receive, we must be careful to recognize God.  And when we recognize God in everything we do, He has promised us that He will protect and guide us.

Question: Why do we have a hard time trusting in the Lord with all our hearts?  Why do most people hesitate to lean on God?

I ask myself these questions.  I realize that you cannot trust someone whom you do not know.  You cannot trust someone whom you do not have a relationship with.  When you know the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth, the Sovereign God, you will trust Him enough with your whole life.  So how do you know Him enough?  By seeking and seeking and seeking Him through His Word in the Bible and through prayer.
